Winner - Nestle Giveaway

Wow, I loved the food pictures you have all sent to me. I've been getting some really great ideas for dinner options for my fussy eaters. It was hard to pick but I chose the best pics/recipes that I could replicate at home. The winners of the Nestle Healthy Active Kids are Sophie, Michelle and Kou!!! Above are Sophie's Spinach and Feta twists. They look amazing and so easy to make. I think my kids would love them too. A great lunch box filler or afternoon snack. Here is her Kale and White Bean soup. Looks amazeballs!! Perfect for our Winter weather although my kids would smirk at the green stuff but we just have to keep trying don't we? I tell them they will just starve if they don't eat what I make for dinner. I am loving this plate of snowpeas and broccoli. It would be something hubby and I would devour. My kids would only eat the peas inside but it's a start. I am liking the addition of sesame seeds and what is that yummy stuff in the back? Gy...

Mother's Day

If you're anything like me, you've only just realised that Mother's Day is this Sunday. I figured this out as they mentioned it at church. Then my sister texts me to tell me that we're having dinner at mums on Saturday and to bring in a plate. Above is a really old picture of my parents, me (in pink) and my youngest sister. Don't you love our hair! I don't know where the rest of the family are but this is at my grandparents place in the early 80's.   I haven't decided what to get mum yet. Last year it was boring robe and slippers. This year mum deserves something more lovely and thoughtful. She's been through a loss of her eldest daughter and she needs some pampering. She never asks for anything and always wonders why we spend our money on her. I have to get her flowers I think to start with.       I did, however, pick up this bag for myself from Strandbags. They are having sale right now. I needed to replace my green BlueBir...

Healthy Active Kids plus Nestle Giveaway

What's on your plate kids? You may remember that my kids were offered to take part in the Healthy Active Kids session which was held by Nestle at the Royal Easter Show. We couldn't say no to kids cooking and it was their first time at the Show . They made these easy Rice Paper Rolls and Yummy Apricot Balls on specially designed plates which shows the kids how much food they put in each section. Too easy. As a mum I know we are always looking for a fantastic resource which gets kids involved in the kitchen and promotes awareness of what foods your kids should be eating and trying new things. Nestle have teamed up with the Australian Institute of Sport to raise awareness and promote physical activity among primary school age children. As part of the program, the website www.healthyactivekids.com.au is an interactive resource for parents and teachers, to educate children to lead healthy, active lives. Recently we made these ANZAC biscuits in honour of our hero...

While we were on holidays

Oh the memories of the recent Easter/School Holiday Break brings me so much joy. It was magical, fun-filled, steady paced and enjoyable. We went to the show for the first-time (well for the kids anyway) and the kids loved it. Look at that smile. Pure joy. Elijah was a bit scared at first but I held onto him and then as he got use to it he relaxed and enjoyed himself. You just have to go on the carousel when you're at The Show. The last day was great as it was Kids Day so rides were two for one until 5pm. Some Showbags ran out but we managed to get 3/4 that we wanted so it was great. I even got a bargain on the Womens Weekly bag as they ran out of stock but used the bags to put in spare items and sold it for $10. Awesome! The older two kids attended the Nestle Active Healthy Kids session in the Food Farm. What a fantastic session which got a lot of kids cooking something healthy that they would eat themselves. My kids are use to rice paper rolls. We must have them at le...

Clever crafting with CleverPatch

We have been busy at home doing all sorts of things and with school holidays coming up I have to find some boredom busters. There's nothing that will make you crazy than to hear "I'm bored!" all day long. You can't go past anything that's crafty for the kids. They love to be imaginative and CleverPatch understands how important it is for a child's development. In short CleverPatch are about craft that helps kids to explore ideas and understand their world. They have an online craft store bursting with soooo many good things that are also inexpensive ready for you to keep those little hands busy with great things. Did I mention it's Free Freight?? Winning! Since Easter is just around the corner my daughters really got stuck in to making these Easter bunny and Chick decorations. My little 3yr old boy decided to help out with the sticking part as they are self adhesive which makes craft easy. Aren't they so cute? Each project comes...

Seeing spots - Library Bags

Howdy there. I realised that I have everything for school except library bags for the kids. Last year I bought some small Disney un-inspired bags which aren't going to do the job this year. So, I spent the last two days wondering and agonising over library bags/totes. Finally, I settled upon the Purl Bee 20 minute tote , except that as I was cutting, I decided that I wanted to line the totes. So it ended being the 40 minute tote, which was probably more like the 50 minute tote as I wrestled with my overlocker. I already had the 1 inch herringbone webbing in my stash as well (just enough for all three bags). I vaguely recall buying them from ebay.                                                  In fact, as I finished each bag they got progressively a little smaller in size. This is going backwards but I made Michael's bag last. I had this Japanese fabr...

Where I've been

We stayed here in Salamander Bay last week and it was awesome.  We spent a few days beaching and soaking up the sun. Perfect weather and waves.  This was Fingal Beach. We had a bbq and there was a little play area for the kids next to it. Awesomeness I tells ya. We went back on our last day but it was but more wavier. We ate home made food: my sisters curry,  my quinoa salad and baked drumettes. I'm going to miss being on holiday. Guess I'll have to book now for next year. Where do you recommend in nsw?
