Morning tea with Bakers Delight!

Earlier this week I had the lovely opportunity to host a morning tea with some new treats from Bakers Delight. They have a new range of Lemon and Cream Cheese bakery items. They sent over some of them for my local playgroup, all nice and fresh.

Here we have two Lemon and Cream Cheese Swirls and 10 Lemon and Cream Cheese Scrolls. I had a bit of time to set up the table before all the ladies arrived and they all 'oooh'd and ahhhh'd' once they saw the table. I couldn't bring too many things with me, as I still had the kids and their luggage, but I used some of my nice plates with a matching tea pot for some Earl Grey tea and some Heather Bailey for a lemony touch.

Once we made our hot teas we tucked into the treats relaxed and enjoyed the lemon sensation. The Lemon Sweet Swirls/Scrolls are neither too lemony or sweet. There's a really nice balance and this wonderful scent of a bakery item that I loved. I think it could have been nutmeg? I couldn't tell so I just had to keep eating them. It could have been cinnamon ... but anyway, whatever it was it made me want to eat more. All the ladies enjoyed them as well.

The kids liked them too but admittedly the lemon and cream cheese frosting was a bit much for them so I took some off and they are the rest of it. In all seriousness, I had about one whole Swirl finished off by myself by the end of the day. There goes my diet.

They are a perfect treat to bring to a picnic or a friend's place. Here are some of the ladies enjoying the scones. A huge thankyou to Bakers Delight and of course we can't go without offering three $10 vouchers to Bakers Delight to my reader's!!!

Just leave a comment on what you like to serve as your morning tea and I'll draw a winner out next week.

  1. Hi Kim. I tried those lemon and cream cheese buns just this morning and knew I was in trouble. I will now have to resist buying them each time I go past the shop! Delicious! How generous of your local Baker's Delight to let you all try the treats. Kind regards, Kirrily. ps. I don't intend for you to include me in the draw :)

  2. I am a big tea fan and I love matching teas with food - pain au chocolate with amaretto tea, Brisbane breakfast with fruit tarts. But I think my favourite morning tea to serve is banana bread. There are so many different types and so many different ways to have it - with jam, cream, butter, berry compote, the list goes on! Would love to mix it up with something from Bakers Delight - I love their Chia and Fruit Loaf!!

Invisible zipper foot - Birch

I thought I might shed some light on the invisible zipper foot. I bought a Birch model from Spotlight and it came in a little plastic bag with four blue shanks and a rolling foot. First I removed the standard foot from my Janome sewing machine (Sewist 521). I realised I still needed to remove the shank, which is the part that is screwed on, and holds the interchangeable feet. So with one hand holding the screwdriver and one hand holding my daughter, who just had to watch, it popped out disappeared somewhere. NO! I was about to kick myself but luckily I found it in the basket underneath my table. Phew. The Birch invisible zipper foot comes with one shank already in place so you know how it's suppose to fit. You have to select the correct shank that fits your machine and slide it onto the foot piece. I just tried each blue part on my machine and made sure it was wide enough to cover the metal leg bit and that I could fit the screw in it's side. Once you find the correct shank sl
