The year that was COVID.

During COVID we bought a house. It was obvious to me that while everyone was working or being homeschooled our current house did not provide enough space for all of us to live together in harmony. Well, not by my standards anyway. We had been looking for a while and I was really patient. We ended up buying this double story (two stories also below) with enough stairs that would make up for the gym membership cancellation.

The boys are still sharing and the girls each get a room so all in all, we're doing pretty well. We had to get some new furniture and we're pretty settled in right now. I've just needed to use my daughter's walk in robe for my extra kitchen and hobby stuff. There's nowhere else I can store them right now. I guess I could move them all under the basement. Hmm, maybe I will.

Amongst the lockdowns and restrictions we've managed to have attend hubby's niece's wedding (max 150ppl) and most recently a big birthday bash for two young niece and nephews. It is so nice to hang out and celebrate with family again. I missed it alot and I'm not sure what Christmas holds because up in the Northern beaches, there's an outbreak of that dreaded virus. Just when NSW was cleared for many weeks and restrictions were easing, it looks tentative. We are meant to restrict visitors to 10ppl and who knows what this means for Christmas Day.

I don't know why I made zucchini slice but I did. I ate most of it. My kids don't eat it so I had it for lunch and snacks. Thankfully this was a small tray. I won't be making it again any time soon.

Whilst whiling away the hours at home I got onto the Home Edit series. It seemed pretty good. Plus, this was before we moved so I was getting ready to make my new place spectacular. I now have a double door fridge so the space is quite narrow. I am not sold on buying some clear containers to hold my items but I did buy one of those green fridge mats so that the veggies and fruit stay fresher for longer. It's doing ok so far. I bought some wire baskets from Kmart for my linen cabinet. I think everyone else is doing the same thing because most things were out of stock. I was patient and got some in the store a few months later.

Spring season means Jacaranda trees bloom their pretty lavender flowers. This is my neighbours front yard. I'm glad I do not have trees except two in my green hut at the back.

The beautiful fresh roses at the wedding reception.

So we've been working from home and I really like it. Some days I find it hard to concentrate and I get distracted but other days it's really good. I am in the office right now until hubby gets the wifi to work all the way from the lounge to here. I just use the sim in my laptop so I can go anywhere.

I'm feeling really blessed. I have all that I need and I am so very thankful to the Lord who has helped me in all his ways. I really hope that we can celebrate Christmas with everyone and that all those who are sick get better soon.

Take care and stay safe everyone.

Invisible zipper foot - Birch

I thought I might shed some light on the invisible zipper foot. I bought a Birch model from Spotlight and it came in a little plastic bag with four blue shanks and a rolling foot. First I removed the standard foot from my Janome sewing machine (Sewist 521). I realised I still needed to remove the shank, which is the part that is screwed on, and holds the interchangeable feet. So with one hand holding the screwdriver and one hand holding my daughter, who just had to watch, it popped out disappeared somewhere. NO! I was about to kick myself but luckily I found it in the basket underneath my table. Phew. The Birch invisible zipper foot comes with one shank already in place so you know how it's suppose to fit. You have to select the correct shank that fits your machine and slide it onto the foot piece. I just tried each blue part on my machine and made sure it was wide enough to cover the metal leg bit and that I could fit the screw in it's side. Once you find the correct shank sl
