Sweet 16

Happy 2016. I hope it's a Sweet 16 for you all. NYE was spent eating more seafood at mums. It was fun. We danced the night away. In the dark. It was good times.

Yeah. That's me. Maybe it was the Moscato but it's yum and sweet and not like wine.

I drove up to Salamander Bay for our annual holiday but it happened to rain. Like torrential rain. I was scared while I was driving and doing about 100kms on the freeway. Barely able to see the road. But we made it and there were huge puddles everywhere. We had a big ankle deep one right in front of our apartment/townhouse. I was just glad to arrive. One of my sisters made banana fritters. I tell you they.are.the.bomb. I could eat them everyday. We pretty much sat and ate most of the time or did short trips to the shopping centre.

This was the townhouse at Oaks Pacific Blue Resort. Plenty of room for us to sit and play inside. I only wish it hadn't rained.every.single.day we were there except the day we left of course.
But rain didn't hold us back and we stayed in the warm spa outside. Oh man that was goooood. I wasn't brave enough to go in the cold water that surrounds the inside apartments but my sister said you get use to it. I'll just take her word for it.

The sun came out the day we left and we're left with scorching weather back home this week. Gee, thanks. So we made the most of the sunshine at Wet N Wild instead and made up enough vitamin D to last til next summer. This day was good too.

I'm back at work. Can you hear the excitement in my voice. No, yeah. Cos there is none. So disappointed with the rain. We will probably book again for next year. Same place. Same time. But it may be more expensive. We shall see. Wish me luck.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Merry Belated Christmas everyone and a very Happy New Year. If you were like me, you were flat out with holiday things and leaving everything last minute. We had a half day Christmas Eve so Missy came with me to work and enjoyed meeting my workmates.

The kids enjoyed Christmas at their grandparents and we had a good old Aussie bbq on the day. It was the first time that it hadn't rained for a few years so we really enjoyed it.

I made some brownies and that was about it. I left my Christmas shopping for the last few days and went shopping practically every day to pick up bits and pieces. I don't recommend this method but hey, it worked for me. I avoided traffic and shopping queues by either going early in the morning or parking close-by and walking the rest of the way to the shops. Funny enough, I bought things for myself rather than for other people, lol. A bit of retail therapy goes a long way.

You can't live down here without feeling the heat and boy we had a few days of hot weather. I made use of our Wet n Wild passes for this season and the kids got to hang out with their cousins and have fun in the sun.

Christmas dinner is always at my mums and my sister made her scrumptious salmon bites again. Yummy!!! I got the recipe this year so I plan to make this on special occasions. There is always lots of food and too many sweets. It means that New Year Resolutions always includes "eat better"

I squeezed in sewing up a skirt for my eldest. She seems to have grown in many directions so she lacked shorts and skirts. I finally cut up my Flea Market Fancy fabric and just copied one skirt I picked up from Target. This even has pockets!!! It seemed to turn out pretty much the same size as the Target branded one which surprised me since I made-up the whole thing.

Spent New Years Eve at mums again and we danced the night away. Just the medicine I need for bouts of moodiness I've been getting lately. I must be getting old. Ha ha. We're heading up to Salamander Bay this week. The weather forecast seems to be pretty cool with some rain just to put a damper on things but we'll enjoy the time relaxing which is much needed. I do hope 2016 brings you much happiness and good things. Sweet 16 so they say!

Catch you later... I can think about school supplies in a weeks time.
