Bloggerversary Givewaway


It's been just over a year since I've started blogging.
I vividly remember how I came about to this world of blogging. It was around Easter time and for some reason I did a search for "easter egg wrapping". A few clicks on some links and I landed on this really funny, parenting blog by Karen Cheng : Snippets of Life. Well, suffice it to say that I was hooked!
She was hilarious, inspiring, courageous, seriously talented and so young too.
A few more clicks away and I came across other blogs about sewing such as Tessuti, Grosgrain and many others. Somehow, I really prefer blogs that are closer to home. Maybe because I feel more connected to them.
Blogging has enabled me to connect to others, be inspired, happy, learn new skills, share my own experiences and look to the brighter things in life. So to celebrate this one year of blogging I am giving away my Mama and Child Japanese sewing patterns book. It is linked to Pomadour's Craft Cafe. I've just recieved my new book Sweet Dress Recipe and I can't wait to get started!!! I have only used the Mama skirt pattern and bag from this book. There is a bit of scribbling on one of the skirt patterns in pencil but it's mainly for translation so I'll leave it in there.
Just leave a comment by Sunday night about what you love about blogging and I will pick a winner and announce it on Monday am, Australian Eastern Standard time. International readers are ok so long as you have your own blog.

    Wow! That is very generous of you! I'm thinking of doing a giveaway on my blog too, so you have inspired me to get around to doing that. I love blogging, especially seeing just how creative others are and sharing my own (very novice!) creations. I love seeing all your sewing projects Kim, especially that gorgeous coat for your son. I think your book would inspire me to sew something really special, maybe even something for myself (which I haven't done yet... always sewing for my two little girls). Happy Bloggerversary!

    I love reading other crafty peoples blogs, it inspires me so much. If I can inspire someone who reads my blog to try something new then I have succeeded.

    i am new in the blogging world. but i do like writing new posts and then adding on the pictures and to see how nice it looks.
    and i love my collection of blogs that i read throug googel reder every day!

    What an awesome giveaway! I've only been blogging for a few months now but I love how positive and supportive everyone is - it is very rare to come across a negative comment on a blog. I particularly like your blog because you have some of the same pattern books as me, and kids of similar age so I like to steal ideas from you!

    Happy Bloggerversary :D

    I love looking at all the creative Mama's and others out there, and drawing inspiration from their various Sewing/Craft and Parenting techniques to bring to my own life.

    And then, I enjoy blogging myself to share with everyone what I've created in the hopes of inspring them aswell.

    Mind you, I only just restarted bloggging and I don't know that anyone reads my blog, but meh... I enjoy it :)

    Congrats on your bloggerversary, time flies when you're having fun doesn't it! I'm not sure what I love so much about blogs, I think it's kind of like people are giving you a little snapshot into their lives. I mostly read craft blogs but also some with a craft/family mix and sometimes it's nice to know I'm not the only one juggling mum time with craft time!

Christmas Book Giveaway!

When I recieve this box from Scholastic it IS like Christmas Day over and over again! Invisible zipper foot - Birch

I thought I might shed some light on the invisible zipper foot. I bought a Birch model from Spotlight and it came in a little plastic bag with four blue shanks and a rolling foot. First I removed the standard foot from my Janome sewing machine (Sewist 521). I realised I still needed to remove the shank, which is the part that is screwed on, and holds the interchangeable feet. So with one hand holding the screwdriver and one hand holding my daughter, who just had to watch, it popped out disappeared somewhere. NO! I was about to kick myself but luckily I found it in the basket underneath my table. Phew. The Birch invisible zipper foot comes with one shank already in place so you know how it's suppose to fit. You have to select the correct shank that fits your machine and slide it onto the foot piece. I just tried each blue part on my machine and made sure it was wide enough to cover the metal leg bit and that I could fit the screw in it's side. Once you find the correct shank sl
